Congratulations to all of us. The Art Salon turned one on October 30th!
Thank you to everyone for being such wonderful members of our group. We've had a truly successful year. I am so happy that not only are we still together, but still thriving, curious, caring and excited to get together. And we still haven't seen everyone's work.
As this year unfolds, we will finally get a chance to know what we all do. We'll all have had a turn to open our studios. This will be an interesting chance to see how the Salon may transform. Perhaps we'll want to expand the kinds of meeting that we have. Add a few new members. Try out an occasional reading list. Or not. Right now, I am so happy. I love knowing that I can count on a good dialogue. I look forward to each and every meeting. Craig and I are always reflecting on what a wealth of talent we have in this group. It's a safety net and a source of inspiration. A place of accountability and continuity.
We were recently speaking to the former curator of Barnsdall Art Park and were telling him about our Salon. He said that we were fortunate (and I interject smart here) to have this. LA is an incredible place with talent and opportunities, but such a desert for community. It's great to have each other. I love seeing your work, sharing information and knowing that there are others out there that I can learn from, share ideas with and consume cheese and hummus with every few weeks. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Phoebe

I just want to know what John is whispering in Zelda's ear! Kidding - great photos, Craig! Everyone looks like a model.
